It’s that time of the year when we can help our needy families during the holidays. Some of our migrant families who move here to work in the agriculture fields, nurseries, and packing industries, usually only bring their clothes. The Migrant Educational Program collaborates and works closely with different organizations that can help these families with housing, food, and clothing.
Federal and state laws in California have recognized the unique challenges that migrant students face and therefore provide support for educational programs and services that are designed to help students and their families overcome the obstacles of poverty and disruption educational services.
The Morgan Hill Unified School District in conjunction with MEP provides programs specifically for the children of seasonal/temporary employment who work in agriculture. The programs are school-based programs designed to support children who may experience interruptions in their education as a result of constantly moving.
Once again, the Migrant Educational program is collecting new blankets to give to our needy families to help them during cold winter days. Anyone can help! Together we can make a big difference in someone’s life.
So if you want to donate a blanket or several, please bring them to your school sites or to the Migrant Educational Office. We will make sure it benefits a needy family. We are located at 17960 Monterey Rd. Room 2 Morgan Hill, CA. If you like for us to come and pick-up the blankets at your place, please let us know.
Thank you for your support,
Teresa Romero, MEP Recruiter
